A KOOL & THA GANG .- ES UNA FAMOSA BANDA SOUL,R&B, DISCO DE LOS AÑOS 70 , 80' PRINCIPALMENTE QUE FUE LA DÈCADA DONDE TUVIERON MÀS ÈXITOS EN TODO EL MUNDO, EN LIMA, PERÙ GUSTARON MUCHO DESDE QUE SE LOS ESCUCHÒ POR EL AÑO 1981 CON "CELEBRETAION", SIGUIERON OTRAS MUY BUENAS CANCIONES, QUE HASTA LA ACTUALIDAD PERDURAN EN LA MEMORIA DE SUS SEGUIDORES Y FANATICOS, CONOCEDORES DE LA BUENA MÙSICA QUE SE PRODUCÌA EN LOS AÑOS 80', INOLVIDABLE DÈCADA, POR EJEMPLO "JOANNA", "FRESH", "GET DOWN ON IT", ETC..HASTA HACE POCO ESTUVIERON DE GIRA POR DIVERSOS PAÌSES ENTRE ELLOS ESPAÑA EN DONDE PRESENTARON SU NUEVO MATERIAL EN JULIO DE 2007, ESTA GRAN BANDA NORTEAMERICANA HA PISADO TIERRA PERUANA, HACE MUY POCO TIEMPO EL AÑO PASADO EXACTAMENTE OFRECIENDO UN SUPER CONCIERTO EN EL JOCKEY CLUB DEL PERÙ, MUCHOS SE DELEITARON Y RECORDARON CON EL REPERTORIO QUE NOS OFRECIERON, DURANTE MUCHOS AÑOS LO MEJOR DEL R&B, SOUL O DISCO NO HABIAN TOCADO EN SUELO PERUANO DESDE LA DECADA DE LOS 80' CUANDO SE PRESENTARON LOS FAMOSOS "VILLAGE PEOPLE", POR ESTE MOTIVO LES PRESENTO ALGO BREVE DE KOOL & THE GANG, UNA DE LOS MEJORES BANDAS NORTEAMERICANA QUE HAYAMOS ESCUCHADO Y VISTO EN EL PERÙ...VA PARA USTEDES AMIGOS!!!

Kool & The Gang es un grupo americano de R&B, Soul, Funk y Disco muy exitoso. El grupo se formó en Jersey City, Nueva Jersey en 196

Los miembros principales del grupo a través de los años han sido Robert 'Kool' Bell en el bajo y Ronald Bell en el saxo tenor; George Brown en la percusión; Robert Mickens en la trompeta; Dennis Thomas en el saxo alto; Claydes Charles Smith en la guitarra, Clifford Adams en el trombón y Rick Westfield en los teclados. El padre de Robert y Ronald trabajó con Thelonious Monk y así mismo los hermanos eran amigos de Leon Thomas. En 1964 Robert formó la banda instrumental "the Jazziacs" con cinco compañeros de colegio y después cambiaron su nombre a Kool & the Gang cuando lanzaron un álbum del mismo nombre.
Aunque no llegaron a poner un sencillo en listas, el álbum fue exitoso, lo que les permitió seguir editando álbumes hasta que el de 1973 llamado Wild and Peaceful llegó al reconocimiento general con las canciones "Jungle Boogie" y "Hollywood Swinging". El sonido funk que habían estado cultivando llegó a su máxima expresión en el álbum de 1975 llamado The Spirit of the Boogie y después de este empieza un cambio radical hacia el sonido disco.
Cuando en 1979 se une al grupo el cantante James "J.T." Taylor en el álbum Ladies' Night comienza una nueva etapa mas comercial y en consecuencia mas exitosa, obtuvieron un número 1 con "Celebration" del álbum Celebrate! del año 1980 , producido por Eumir Deodato.
A partir de ese éxito lograron muchas mas apariciones en listas como "Big Fun", "Get Down on It" y "Joanna". Su álbum de 1984 llamado Emergency les dio cuatro éxitos en el top 20 incluyendo "Fresh" y "Cherish". Su presencia en listas se interrumpió a partir del álbum Forever cuando Taylor y Ronald Bell (quien empezó a llamarse Khalis Bayyan) dejaron el grupo.
El nombre del grupo volvió a la actualidad en 2003, cuando un sampler de saxo suyo dio forma al superéxito "Crazy in Love" de Beyoncé.

Kool & The Gang en julio estaruvieron en Madrid en concierto Julio 2007
El famoso grupo funky nortemaricano Kool & The Gang, hace poco acaban de publicar un nuevo material discográfico llamado Still Kool, y ahora llegarán a Madrid a partir del próximo 28 de julio en el marco de los Veranos de la Villa.
Allí Kool & The Gang estará presentando aparte de su antiguo repertorio musical, su nuevo disco.

Their first LP on Delite brought together a series of their hit 7" singles and at least half this disc is straight smokin' with the other half filled with more mellow (but no less enjoyable) fare. "The Gang's Back Again," should sound familiar to those who've heard Funk Inc.'s version of "Kool and the Gang." To be honest, I think Funk Inc. does it even better but K&G's original is nothing to sneeze at either.
